How to Stop the Villain from Going Crazy

Chapter 13 - Tsk tsk, feudal superstition was quite harmful to the common folk (1)

Bo Li's expression was very serious. She wasn't joking.

She was genuinely sleepy and wanted to sleep with Erik for a while. She would deal with the big problem of the trainer after waking up.

Of course, she just meant sleep, nothing else.

She didn't have those sorts of thoughts about Erik. Even though she knew that people in the 19th century didn't live long and that males of his age could already get married under the witness of their parents and have children, she only saw him as a high school student.

If he was in modern-day, he would probably be in the first or second year of high school. He was so smart that he might have skipped straight to college.

Thinking of this, she felt the fear in her heart subsiding.

However, Erik thought she was mocking him.

Before she could finish talking, he abruptly pulled out the dagger and stabbed into her pillow. He coldly stared at her from top to bottom.

He had been teased like this countless times. He greatly disliked such jokes.

The breathing sound behind the white mask abruptly became heavier.

Bo Li could picture the angry, hot breath expanding and finally condensing into water droplets that slowly drip down.

She gulped. Her throat felt a bit tight. She seemed calm on the surface, but she almost couldn't control her bladder like the trainer.

If they became familiar with each other in the future and could communicate normally with words, she would definitely make him change his habit of indiscriminately using his dagger.

".... You misunderstood me," she said with difficulty, "I genuinely hope you'll stay and sleep with me for a while."

The air seemed to freeze.

Erik icily stared at her.

Under his gaze, her scalp felt numb and goosebumps popped up from head to toe.

She suddenly realized that Erik didn't believe her or want to work with her.

It was true that he had been shocked by her kiss and even panicked, but he must have quickly realized that kiss came with an ulterior motive.

He might surrender to a kiss, but it wouldn't work if the kiss was insincere and clearly marked with a price.

Bo Li immediately broke out in a cold sweat. She had almost forgotten that although he looked cold and empty and seemed like a wax figure without a soul, he was extremely intelligent.

What took others a month to learn, he could learn with a glance, so of course, he could easily see through her rhetoric.

The good news was that he had punished the trainer that hurt her. Perhaps, he did this to repay her sympathy, even if her sympathy had an ulterior motive attached to it. Or perhaps, he simply wanted to find someone to vent his bloodthirsty appetite.

As for whether she would get into more trouble because of his punishment, that wasn't within his consideration.

In that moment, countless thoughts flashed through Bo Li's mind, but none of them were good enough to resolve her current dilemma.

After a while, she gritted her teeth and made up her mind. Whatever, she had to keep him here. If a kiss couldn't keep him, then what about a hug?

She had made his eyes change a few times. Almost every time, it was because of physical contact.

He had a weird, withdrawn personality and was extremely guarded against others. The people around him felt a strong disgust at the mere mention of his name, so how could they possibly touch him?

Perhaps, a hug would close the distance between them.

Bo Li felt that she was playing a dangerous game. He was holding a dagger, and his every move was unpredictable. Hugging such a person was tantamount to putting herself on the chopping block.

However, if she let him leave behind the seriously injured trainer, then her death date wouldn't be far either.

Bo Li didn't hesitate anymore. She leaned forward and tightly hugged him.

For a moment, time seemed to stand still.

Erik stopped moving, and his heavy breathing also vanished.

Bo Li was so nervous that it felt like she was about to have a heart attack. She was far away from her calm exterior. She couldn't guess what Erik was thinking. At any moment, he might stab her in the back. Just thinking about that possibility made her legs weak.

But fortunately, her guess that he was touch-starved was correct. He couldn't resist physical affection.

She could feel the muscles in his arms tensing and relaxing as if he was hesitating whether to push her away, kill her, or maintain the status quo.

He was very thin, thinner than she had thought. He felt like a rack of rugged bones. He was like a hungry apex predator in the wild that wasn't lacking in muscle.

He could easily hold up a strong adult woman with one hand, but he could also be trapped by a hug with ulterior motives.

Bo Li felt a strange feeling. She couldn't tell whether it was sympathy or something else.

After an unknown time passed, Erik suddenly moved. He let her continue to hug him while he leaned forward to pull out the dagger. He tilted the dagger slightly so that it pressed against her back.

At that moment, she felt like her heart had stopped, and her blood froze. She thought she wouldn't be able to see tomorrow's sun.

Fortunately, he only glided the dagger on her back before sliding it back into his boot.

Bo Li exhaled in relief. She felt like her throat had been choked and then released. Her vision went black for a moment; she almost passed out.

… Anyways, she had made the right bet. He didn't leave, and she was still alive.

"Thank you…"

Bo Li didn't know what she was thanking him for. She felt like she had been at the brink of death before being yanked back, so she blurted out thank you.

If she had known she would live such a life, instead of becoming an actress, she would have signed up for beast taming classes or work as a volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary.

"Go lie down first." Bo Li raised her hand to wipe her physiological tears. "I'll go staunch her blood. She can't die here. I have something to ask her."

Erik didn't comment.

The trainer had already fainted from excessive blood loss. Bo Li sprinkled hemostatic powder on her palm, fed her an ibuprofen tablet to prevent her from dying from fever, dehydration, and shock, and went straight to the bed to lie down.

She was afraid that Erik would change his mind in the middle of the night and stab her to death, so she rested her head on his chest and tightly held his arms. She didn't dare to let go.

Translator Ramblings: I find it satisfying how well Bo Li can interpret Erik's actions and feelings. Since she's in a horror movie setting, it doesn't feel wrong that she's using her understanding to manipulate him. Erik is smart enough to see through her motives, so it feels quite balanced.
