Chapter 129 - Nie ChengFeng (3)

She looked at the man whom she had known for many years. With tears streaming down her face, she said, “ChengFeng-ge, I feel like I have just lost everything…

“What should I do? I have no big brother or a mother anymore… Big Brother ChengFeng…”

Looking at the girl in front of him who wouldn’t stop crying, Nie ChengFeng became more and more annoyed. He shouted at her, “If you keep crying here I am going to kick you out!”

“But, Big Brother ChengFeng…”

And then, all the other words that she wanted to say were stopped by the man’s lips all of a sudden.

Nie ChengFeng drank a lot today. His being able to resist it once didn’t mean that he would be able to do it a second time.

As such, by the time he woke up the next morning, it was all too late.

The two of them locked eyes.  Qin Ziyi, her eyes reddened, almost felt too intimidated to look at Nie ChengFeng. She clutched the blanket and said softly, “Can we pretend that never happened last night?”

Nie ChengFeng looked at the smudge of redness on the bed and wasn’t sure how he felt about all this. He chuckled softly and said, “Okay. Nothing happened.”

And then, Qin Ziyi left. From behind her, she looked like a little pet puppy that had been abandoned by the whole world.

It was the day time of the next day when Nie ChengFeng found out how Huo YanXiao had set up Qin ZiMing and his mother into confessing their own crime, and he finally understood why Qin Ziyi was crying the night before.

He did not see Qin Ziyi for the next few days that followed, as though nothing really happened between them that night.

All the way until two months later, when Nie ChengFeng received a text. “ChengFeng-ge, I am at the hospital right now. They said they will require family’s signature to have an abortion. Can you please come and sign for me? I don’t want to ask anyone else.”

Nie ChengFeng was in a meeting when he received the text. Seeing the news, he frowned deeply and drove straight to the hospital.

When he arrived, Qin Ziyi was sitting in the waiting area of the hospital with her head lowered, like an idiot who had done something wrong and was waiting to be lectured.

As soon as he walked up to her, she said through her reddened eyes, “I forgot to take my pills that day.”

Nie ChengFeng rubbed his brows, took her hand, and started walking out. “It’s fine. Let’s get married.”

Qin Ziyi took a couple of steps forward before she fully comprehended Nie ChengFeng’s words. She looked at him with her puffy eyes and said, “Big Brother ChengFeng, what did you just say?”

“Get married.” Nie ChengFeng lectured her. “It’s unfortunate enough for the child to have an irresponsible mother like you. Does it not have a shot at being born?”

Her hand in his, she asked in an intimidated way, “Big Brother ChengFeng, I thought you disliked me.”

Nie ChengFeng chuckled and asked, “Says who?”

Truth was, he didn’t dislike her. Granted, he didn’t particularly like her either.

“Do you really like me?” Qin Ziyi seemed to have lightened up. She looked up and there was joy in her eyes.

Looking at her like that, Nie ChengFeng suddenly remembered the look on her when she went over to his place for free food. He suddenly felt that the girl in front of him wasn’t all that annoying after all.

“I like you alright,” said Nie ChengFeng nonchalantly.

Qin Ziyi was very happy. Following behind him, they went to a different department for her prenatal examination.

When the two walked out of the hospital, the sun was big and high. Qin Ziyi looked at the sun and said, suddenly, “Big Brother ChengFeng, you are all I have from now on.”

“I know,” said Nie ChengFeng.

“Big Brother ChengFeng, can I still go for a free lunch at your place going forward?” asked Qin Ziyi cautiously.

Nie ChengFeng turned and gave her a profound look.

Qin Ziyi retracted her neck a little. Her head lowered, and she looked like a little quail.

Nie ChengFeng took a deep breath and thought to himself that it’d be alright that they didn’t have a strong bond from the beginning. He didn’t like manipulative women or a scheming one. The little quail in front of him didn’t seem that bad. She’s a foodie, but foodies were about the simplest. All he needed to do was to feed her well in the future.

“Sure, why not?” said Nie ChengFeng nonchalantly.

Qin Ziyi was a little happy. But then she recalled again what had happened to her family, and she was a little depressed again.

Then again, she looked at the tall and large man next to her and suddenly felt as though she had finally found her dock where she could be sheltered from all the storms outside.

She looked down at his hand that was holding her, and her lips curved upward.
