Chapter 127 - Nie ChengFeng (1)
Sitting on a couch inside the private room and rotating the wine glass in his hand, there was a smile inside of his peach-blossom eyes. He was chatting on and off with his fellow classmates nearby until he saw a girl being pushed in front of him by a few other girls.
Nie ChengFeng looked up. In his eyes, there were the blurred lights of the KTV along with the flushed cheeks of the girl.
He paused for a couple of seconds before he recalled who she was.
It was the same girl who had spent a long time pursuing him in high school, and he almost gave in and accepted when he went to college.
Except that she gave up all of a sudden. That had caused Nie ChengFeng, who was used to someone following behind him, to feel odd for a while.
And now, seeing her again, the smile on Nie ChengFeng was the same bright and distant one like before. His feelings toward the girl didn’t seem to have changed much.
A girl smiled and said to him, “ChengFeng, do you still remember Fang Wei? You two sat next to each other in class for a while there!”
Nie ChengFeng nodded and took a sip of his wine. His Adam’s apple rolled a little. He replied in a cynical tone, “Yes, I remember. I am not that forgetful just yet.”
“Fang Wei went overseas and she’s back now.” The classmate smiled and pulled Fang Wei into a seated position. She then said to Nie ChengFeng, “I think her office where she works is also quite close to your Nei’s building!”
“Is that so?” Nie ChengFeng slowly looked over at Fang Wei before he said oh so naturally, “Maybe we should grab lunch some time?”
Fang Wei looked at the man in front of her. The two of them were very close to each other, but owing to what had happened to her family, he was already beyond her reach as far as their family statuses were concerned.
She recollected the slight desolate feeling that had risen up in her heart, nodded, and smiled, “Sure, Classmate Nie.”
Nie ChengFeng nodded. Seemingly having nothing more to talk about with her, he turned over to the other men and started chatting about something else.
Fang Wei, still sitting where she was, felt both embarrassed and at a loss all of a sudden.
A long time passed before someone suggested playing some games, and the atmosphere became lively all over again.
Fang Wei lost a game and therefore must answer a question from a male student. “Fang Wei, do you have a boyfriend?”
Under everybody’s eyes, Fang Wei’s heartbeat increased. Looking at the man that she had a crush on since high school and thinking about the distance between the two of them, she was just about to say “yes, I do.” But then, Nie ChengFeng’s cellphone rang.
He answered his call. It was Nie AnAn. All of a sudden, a smile appeared on him. Compared to how he was smiling earlier, his expression now was much more genuine and tender.
Fang Wei suddenly felt a poke at her heart and a sharp pain.
She heard herself say, “No.”
That night, everybody had a bit too much to drink, and some of them had already given up and returned to their rooms. A few of them went to the hot spring in groups of twos and threes.
Nie ChengFeng, too, had plenty to drink. He could definitely feel the effect of alcohol after he had soaked for a bit in the hot spring.
He returned to his room in his swim trunks and towel, but he ran into Fang Wie outside of his room.
Fang Wei drank even more than he did that night, and her eyes were mystified. Seeing him there, she looked at him with her limpid eyes and said she wanted to talk to him.
