Chapter 123 - Finale (2)

The next day was a weekend. For the sake of conserving energy, Huo YanXiao let Nie AnAn off the hook that morning and took her to the zoo that he had promised her a long time ago.

Nie AnAn found the choice of venue for their date a bit disturbing, but after they had watched the dolphin show and the panda climbing trees, her disturbance had turned into excitement.

The zoo wasn’t that bad after all. After they had gone from the zoo to the theater on the right-hand side of the zoo, all of a sudden, the Disney movie didn’t seem that childish after all.

It was already the evening when the two of them arrived home. After they pulled their car around to the front of the mansion, they saw someone squatting there.

Qin Ziyi, after all the drastic changes in her family, had become very quiet as of late.

She couldn’t understand why her mother who had always been tender to her and her big brother who had also doted on her, had turned into someone so greedy and so ruthless.

She had visited them in City Hai. By the time she returned to Capital City, her eyes were reddened and swollen. When “Gold Medal Inn” reached out to her for the next filming, she had turned them down.

She would not be going ever again.

Walking around aimlessly, she somehow arrived outside of Huo YanXiao’s mansion.

And then, Qin Ziyi squatted down, her head between her knees, and cried.

Huo YanXiao and Nie AnAn got out of the car and walked over to her, “Xiao Yi.”

“Big Brother, AnAn….” Her eyes filled with unjust. “I am hungry.”

Nie AnAn has nothing against Qin Ziyi. Even though she was Qin ZiMing’s sister, she was a very simple girl who didn’t have evilness in her.

She reached her hand out to Qin Ziyi and said, “Then come have dinner at my place!”

Qin Ziyi nodded. “Okay.” As though she was a stray cat that was picked up and brought home by someone.

Except that, Huo YanXiao still didn’t like to have anyone staying over at their place, even if that someone was his half-sister.

As such, after dinner and watching an episode of a drama on television, Huo YanXiao had his chauffeur take Qin Ziyi back.

Looking at her little sister-in-law’s sad little face, Nie AnAn whispered into her ear, “You can come eat over here on the weekends from now on.”

Qin Ziyi sniffled and finally gave her a smile.

***

There was so much evidence against Qin ZiMing and Mrs. Qin that there would definitely be jail time.

Qin Hai had already given up. After this incident, he had already confirmed that Huo YanXiao was nothing but a wolf.

Once he had stepped foot inside of the Qin’s, he wouldn’t just let his opponent off the hook. Qin Hai has a pretty good idea about Qin ZiMing’s ability. He could handle managing the Qin’s but only at a mediocre level. He wouldn’t make any mistake nor would he bring about any great achievements. He did not remotely measure up to someone like Huo YanXiao, who earned everything he owned today starting from scratch.

The investigation had launched over at City of Hai. Even though Qin ZiMing and Mrs. Qin were suspects, they still had visitation rights.

Qin ZiMing and Mrs. Qin’s trial took place two weeks later. That day, Huo YanXiao appeared as the plaintiff and Qin Hai, too, sat in on the trial. He did not say a word through the entire trial.

Even though both of their defense attorneys argued that Huo YanXiao was unharmed in the end, as the evidence was too overwhelming, Qin ZiMing finally was sentenced to 15 years in jail and Mrs. Qin, 10 years in jail. There would be no shortening of the sentencing.

The day the verdict was announced, Qin ZiMing, from the defendant’s location, stared at Huo YanXiao in his plaintiff’s location. His eyes were bloodshot red.

His chest heaving, he screamed at Huo YanXiao. “Are you happy now? You have taken everything away! Are you happy now?!”

Huo YanXiao merely looked at him nonchalantly and spit out five words, “Yes, I am happy now.”

Qin ZiMing acted like some explosives that had been lit up and wanted to charge at Huo YanXiao, but he was stopped.

He looked over at Qin Hai, who had been there the entire time. He was hysterical. “Dad. I have been your son for so many years. And you are just going to sit and let this happen to me?”

Qin Hai’s eyes were red too. His face that looked like it had aged some 10 years recently now looked even more disheveled.

He merely watched Qin ZiMing from afar and did not comment.

The very emotional Qin ZiMing was taken away. Mrs. Qin’s lips moved as she looked at Qin Hai, but in the end, this couple, who married for mutual benefits, didn’t exchange a word.
