Chapter 80 - Huo YanXiao Is the One That I Want to Marry! (3)
Over at the resting area, Nie AnAn sat across from Huo YanXiao. Neither one of them said a word.
Nie AnAn felt that she had already used up all of her courage up on stage earlier. Now she couldn’t even get herself to look at Huo YanXiao.
She kept her head lowered like a grade school child who had just made a mistake and poked lots of neat little holes in the slice of cake on her plate.
Sitting across from her, Huo YanXiao had many questions that he wanted to ask her. But seeing how many people there were around them, he had forced them all down. Looking at how docile Nie AnAn was, he said to her gently, “AnAn, would you like something to drink?”
“Some red wine, big brother,” said Nie AnAn without looking up.
She just wanted to get herself drunk.
“Okay, I’ll get you a glass of warm milk.” Huo YanXiao acted like he didn’t hear her at all.
A little while later, he really placed a glass of warm milk in front of her.
Nie AnAn looked at the glass of warm milk, but all of a sudden, the rebellion within her that she had kept hidden deep down inside suddenly floated into her blood.
She looked up. Meeting Huo YanXiao’s eyes, she said, “Big brother, I am not a child.” She could drink red wine. Just like she could say she wanted to marry him in public.
There were candles in the candle holders on the wall of the banquet hall. And above them was a dazzling chandelier. Under the lights and shadow, the girl’s face was so pure and clean, and she was looking straight at him with those sparkling eyes. Huo YanXiao felt that his heart was bumped by something all of a sudden.
His Adam’s apple rolled up and down and he said, “Okay, I know.”
It seemed like he wanted to say something else, but Nie ChengFeng had already walked over to where they were.
He sat down next to Huo YanXiao, put his arm around his shoulder in an all-too friendly way, smiled and said, “Should I thank you for blocking the betrothal for me?”
Huo YanXiao casually avoided Nie ChengFeng’s friendly physical contact and said nonchalantly, “I don’t think you plan on going through with it with or without me.”
Even though he was called out, Nie ChengFeng still smiled in an open and honest way. “Of course, I am still young, why would I want to walk inside the grave called marriage now?”
Having said that, he handed the glass of red wine in his left hand over to Nie AnAn, raised the one in his right slightly and said, “AnAn, you wanted badly to leave with someone, your real brother felt a bit hurt by that.”
Nie AnAn wasn’t shy at all around Nie ChengFeng.
She called him out directly, “Is it because you won’t be able to have the lunches that I make anymore?”
With a painful look on him, Nie ChengFeng said, “AnAn, is that how you think of me? Even though we haven’t spent a lot of time together, I truly treasure you. You are just 20; there’s really no need to get yourself tied down just yet.”
Having said that, he even purposefully gave Huo YanXiao a look of disgust along with a long sigh.
The atmosphere was odd all over again and Nie AnAn’s ear started to burn all over again. The red wine rolled down her throat. It was just a little bit over 10 degrees, but it felt like fire had rolled from her mouth straight into her stomach.
During that few seconds of silence, Huo YanXiao said to Nie ChengFeng, “AnAn is with me, not in a grave or tied down.”

A Chinese reader’s rambling:
Qin Ziyi: AnAn, you can’t pick Huo YanXiao. He refused to move back to the Qin’s and you’re marrying out of the Nie’s. Where am I going to go for your cooking???
Huo YanXiao: That’s your problem. AnAn only needs to worry about my 3 meals a day.
Qin Ziyi: Tsk…
