Chapter 69 - Let’s go, AnAn. Your real brother has come to pick you up! (4)
Suddenly, a song that she had heard before popped into her mind –
“I didn’t know when I needed to act accordingly; forcing the one you loved most to act with you…”
Troubled, she rubbed the bun on her head and tried her best to come up with the most surprised “Oh!” she could muster.
“AnAn?” Mother Nie called out to her again with uncertainty.
Nie AnAn was flustered. She gave her another “Oh!” before she stuttered, “So... so… that means I... I… have located my parents?”
“Yes, AnAn! You have found them!” Mother Nie was still very emotional.
“Then, I…” Nie AnAn rubbed so hard that the bun now looked like a chicken nest, but she was still struggling as to what else to say.
“AnAn, I have just sent your brother to go pick you up,” said Mother Nie. “He is on his way. It shouldn’t take him long before he gets there.”
“My brother?” Nie AnAn was baffled.
“Yes, ChengFeng said it’d be about ten minutes or so.” Mother Nie thought about it a bit and added, “Lucky boy. We just found out about you ,and he has the honor to go and pick you up!”
Nie AnAn sudden felt relieved from feeling bad about her poor acting.
She smiled and said, “Okay!”
Truth be told, she quite liked Mother Nie and Father Nie. They did care about her genuinely.
But she still felt that she’d need time to become a family with them.
Apparently, Mother Nie didn’t expect her to address her any differently just yet so they hung up after a couple more exchanges.
Nie AnAn put away her cellphone. Before she was able to tidy up her messy hair, the doorbell rang.
She ran and took a look out of the peephole. It was Nie ChengFeng standing outside.
Nie AnAn opened up the door and the two of them looked at each other for a few seconds before Nie ChengFeng bent over some, leveled his eyes with Nie AnAn’s, raised his brows, and said, “C’mon, AnAn. Come home with your real brother.”
Nie AnAn hasn’t even changed into her shoes yet. Seeing Nie ChengFeng like that, she took a few steps back, alert.
Nie ChengFeng’s smile became even brighter, like a big bad wolf with malicious intention, “AnAn, I really am your real brother. 100%. Much closer to you than that guy Huo YanXiao!
He hasn’t been happy with Huo YanXiao as of late. Especially after he had lost to the Huo’s on a HG bid a couple of days ago.
That and he saw how Nie AnAn made some special food items for Huo YanXiao specifically during the show. Now that he had found out that he was her real brother, along with how she had just taken a few steps backward, he was even less happy with Huo YanXiao.
“Give me a minute,” said Nie AnAn, noticing that taking a few steps backward probably wasn’t her best move. She sat down on a little stool, put on her shoes, and retied her hair into a bun before she said, “Ok, let’s go, brother Feng.”
“Brother Feng?” Nie ChengFeng frowned a little when he heard that.
That sounded kind of bad.
It almost sounded more like “crazy brother”. (T/N. “Feng” rhymes with “crazy” in Chinese.)
“You call Huo YanXiao ‘brother’, why do you have to add another word when it comes to me?” Displeased, he pinched the bun on top of Nie AnAn’s head. “Are you a silly girl who can’t even tell who is closer to you?”
Nie AnAn’s hair was grabbed by Nie ChengFeng. She suddenly stopped in her way and looked up at the tall man next to her.
Nie ChengFeng had put his shades back on. With his buttoned-down shirt and dress pants, he looked like he was on his way to a photoshoot for some business magazines.
Except that, he looked more pretentious than anything else.
Plus, nothing he did worked in front of Nie AnAn.
The little girl looked up at him. With her face puffed up from anger, she said to him, “If you bully me, I am going to tell mom!”
Nie ChengFeng, “……”
