Chapter 67 - Let’s go, AnAn. Your real brother has come to pick you up! (2)
Mother Nie finally exercised great control and stopped herself. She dry coughed a little bit before she said, “AnAn, let me help you with that. We will help you find your birth parents! Oh, right. For the sake of convenience, why don’t you leave us with a couple strands of your hair?”
Nie AnAn went along with what she said, “Sure! Thank you, Aunty.”
Having said that, she quickly pulled off a couple strands of her hair and handed it over to Mother Nie.
After she had gotten home, she watched the video online one more time and heard Qin Hai announce that, “He is my son; naturally he’d return to the Qin’s.”
She lifted the corners of her mouth a bit and went to prepare dinner for Huo YanXiao.
Over at the Huo’s side, Huo YanXiao’s assistant’s phone was ringing off the hook. That, nonetheless, did not affect Huo YanXiao, who was sitting inside a conference room having a meeting with foreign investors, a bit.
Huo YanXiao finally saw them out after they had come to an agreement on preliminary terms.
After he had returned to his office, his assistant quickly reported to him all the calls he had received coming from all sorts of media wanting to have interviews with him. Huo YanXiao interrupted him and said, “Don’t turn them down just yet, nor accept any invitations. I will let you know.”
Having said that, he waved for him to leave his office.
Not too long later, his cellphone rang, and he picked it up when he saw “Qin Hai” on the caller ID.
“Have you seen the news conference yet?” asked Qin Hai. “YanXiao, there will be a banquet at the Qin’s this weekend. I want to introduce you to all your uncles.”
“Sure,” replied Huo YanXiao. He was interested. “Aren’t you worried that someone won’t be too happy about that?”
Qin Hai chuckled. “You don’t seem too worried about that either.”
Then he added, “Aren’t you going to call me ‘dad’?”
Huo YanXiao fell silent for a little bit before he said, “Dad.”
Qin Hai was happy with that. “Many of my friends in Capital City will be there on Saturday. Don’t let me down.”
“I won’t,” replied Huo YanXiao.
After he hung up the phone, Huo YanXiao looked through the list of calls that had come in this afternoon. Sure enough, his “business partner” Qin ZiMing had reached out to him.
That night, when he walked inside the house, he smelled the aroma of dinner.
He didn’t head upstairs right away to get changed but walk over to the kitchen.
The exhaust fan was on, so Nie AnAn didn’t hear him coming in right away.
Her petite body was standing in front of the stove, stir frying lamb kidneys.
Her hair was wrapped into a loose bun hanging loosely on the top of her head. She had on a Peppa Pig apron and heat-avoidant gloves. The section of her arms exposed was smooth, tender, and light-colored.
Her stir-frying was quite loud, but at that very moment, Huo YanXiao felt that the room that she was in was the most quiet and peaceful place that one could find in the otherwise noisy world.
He looked at her for half a minute before he turned and walked upstairs
Seemingly sensed something, Nie AnAn turned around but there was nothing.
When she was about to scoop the soup out, a low and magnetic male voice rang, “Let me do that, AnAn.”
Nie AnAn turned her head and saw that Huo YanXiao had already changed into casual, household wear. He walked over and started helping her out expertly.
His whole person looked to be much more tender in his beige, cotton outfit. He brought everything out to the dining room before he sat down and asked, “AnAn, have you seen the news conference today?”
Nie AnAn nodded. “Yes, I have.”
“I am going to attend a banquet at the Qin’s this weekend.” Huo YanXiao thought about it a little and added, “I am not sure what the situation is over there yet, so you stay home and don’t go anywhere.”
Nie AnAn blinked and nodded. “Mmhmm, mmhmm.”
Huo YanXiao finally couldn’t help himself but rub the little bun on top of her head.
