Chapter 43 - Stay Here With Me For A Little While (2)
Huo YanXiao pressed a little on his head because of an oncoming headache. He lifted his hand to rub Nie AnAn on her head. “How did the interview go at the Nie’s today?”
Nie AnAn nodded. “It went well. They were quite pleased with my professionalism. Aunty had already extended me the offer officially.”
“Ok, then you can start there next month,” said Huo YanXiao. “AnAn, I accepted ‘Gold Medal Inn’s production today. I will be in their show next season.”
Nie AnAn was a little surprised as the book had mentioned that Huo YanXiao wasn’t someone who liked to be put in front of the media, let alone going on some sort of variety show.
Then why did he agree to do it this time?
As though offering up an explanation to Nie AnAn, Huo YanXiao said, “I have a somewhat complicated merger and acquisition case lately. It might be helpful to raise my image a little.”
Nie AnAn blinked and thought she understood.
As Huo YanXiao had acquired a few companies in the past, his reputation had never been the best. Plus, the way he had dealt with the media in the past had always been simple and crude. It stood to reason that his reputation wasn’t all that hot among his industry.
But if Huo YanXiao was to be on a show and acted in a friendly manner, it could very well improve his personal image and his company’s image and increase others’ confidence in dealing with Huo’s Corporation.
Except that Nie AnAn thought the chance of her brother being friendly wasn’t all that high.
Still, one way or another, his face that was so disgustingly handsome would most likely get him a lot of fans even if he was just being cold.
Thinking that her big brother just might gain a large group of female fans, Nie AnAn suddenly felt a little bit of jealousy.
Ugh, this type of possessiveness was not a good sign.
The brother and sister duo sat down and had dinner. As usual, Huo YanXiao took care of the dishes afterward.
But shortly after he walked inside the kitchen, she heard noises of dishes shattering on the floor.
Nie AnAn was startled and dashed inside the kitchen. Huo YanXiao had already calmly picked up the pieces and explained to her, “Just slipped out of my hand. Everything is fine.”
It was nice and bright inside the kitchen, but Nie AnAn couldn’t shake the feeling that the man in front of her seemed unreasonably pale.
She couldn’t be certain if she was just imagining it. She looked at Huo YanXiao for a few extra seconds before she turned and left, convincing herself that she has an overly active imagination.
After all, it was mentioned in the book that Huo YanXiao has an extremely healthy body and could easily live to 99 years old if it wasn’t for contracting the virus.
Plus, she had always been able to gauge one’s health status from their physical appearance, so she was quite certain that Huo YanXiao didn’t have any health issues.
As usual, she went upstairs to read news on her phone. After a right amount of time had passed, she did some post-dinner exercise before she headed into shower.
It was still windy and rainy outside. In the room next door, Huo YanXiao fought his headache as he took one last look at the acquisition proposition before signing his name on the document.
This was too much for him. He stood up, walked over to the couch, and put as much pressure as he could on his head.
The wind and thunder outside seemed to have brought him back to that one rainy night…
Images came flashing in front of his eyes. So much that he was starting to go numb. Black and white dots danced in front of his eyes nonstop and was about to overtake all of his vision.
Then, an anxious voice seemingly sliced through all of the darkness and forced its way into his world. “Big brother, what’s the matter?”
Nie AnAn had just finished drying her hair and the more she thought about it, the more she thought something was wrong about Huo YanXiao. She recalled him pressing on his head a few times over dinner.
Besides, he had excellent strength and balance. Even if he slipped, he wouldn’t have dropped the entire bowl.
This was why she put down her hairdryer and ran into Huo YanXiao’s room.
