Chapter 39 - Hug Me, Big Brother (3)
She hesitated a little but finally accepted it.
A message came quickly from the other end, “AnAn, this is Nie ChengFeng. We have met before. Well, it so happened that my grandpa is not in his best of health and the doctor suggested for him to get some good rest. My family and I have been looking to hire a nutritionist for him and after my parents had watched ‘Gold Medal Inn’, they asked me to ask you to come over to our place and develop some nutritional meals planning for my grandpa.”
Nie AnAn was a little hesitant upon reading that.
She wasn’t the original owner. She was fine with just knowing who her birth family was, but she had no intention to make it official.
Would they discover her real identity if she were to go to the Nie’s?
And Huo YanXiao has always been alone. It was mentioned in the book that he didn’t have anyone close to him even to the day that he died.
He continued to grow his wealth, but that may not necessarily reflect how much he loved money. Rather, it was the security that he could gain from having a career. Nie AnAn had always thought that since she read about Huo YanXiao’s childhood.
If she went to the Nie’s and they found out about her identity, she wouldn’t be able to live with Huo YanXiao anymore. After all, they were not related and it would draw a lot of gossip if they continue to live together.
Thinking about that, Nie AnAn stared at the screen as she started thinking about how to turn it down.
Huo YanXiao seemed to have noticed that she wasn’t all there and asked, “What’s the matter, AnAn?”
Nie AnAn recollected herself, hesitated for a moment, and felt that she should be open and honest with Huo YanXiao, so she pushed her cellphone over.
Huo YanXiao’s heart sank a little after he read the message.
The Nie’s were one of the top families in Capital City. They could have anyone as their nutritionist so why were they fixated on Nie AnAn? Did they have an inkling about something?
He looked up at Nie AnAn and asked, “AnAn, you don’t want to go?”
Nie AnAn shook her head, “Not really. I just want to stay home to be with big brother.”
Huo YanXiao was a little surprised by Nie AnAn’s answer. His deep eyes locked into her clear ones and a shred of light seemed to have shined into a dark corner of his heart.
In light of the dangerous plan that he was about to carry out, he rubbed her head and said, “You should go.”
“Huh?” Now it was Nie AnAn’s turn to be surprised.
“You won’t be there 24 hours. I am mostly in the office during the day time. You can just be home in the evenings,” said Huo YanXiao.
“Oh,” Nie AnAn nodded and changed the script that she had in her mind and typed, “Okay, Mr. Nie, but I am not available the next couple of days. I might join the cast of ‘Gold Medal Inn’ again for the next season. But we can set up a time for an interview and if everything works out, I can start next month?”
Nie ChengFeng’s reply came quickly, “Okay!”
Another message from him came two minutes later, “Do you have time tomorrow for an interview?”
Nie AnAn replied, “Sure, does tomorrow morning work for you?”
“Not a problem,” said Nie ChengFeng as he sent her the GPS location.
As soon as he had put away his cellphone, Mother Nie, on one side, asked anxiously, “You set it up? Tomorrow?”
Nie ChengFeng looked at the beam inside his mother’s eyes. Almost speechless, he nodded. “Yes, tomorrow morning.”
Mother Nie was very excited, “I am going to skip breakfast tomorrow and save my appetite to try my AnAn’s cooking!”
“Your AnAn?” Nie ChengFeng caught onto her choice of word.
Next to them, Father Nie chuckled and looked up from his newspaper. “Chengfeng, I think you are about to fall out of favor.”
