Chapter 29 - Identity Exposed (1)
The crowd was having lunch inside when Nie ChengFeng walked inside.
With a big, bright smile, he said, “I came just in time.”
Mr. Cameraman immediately panned the camera onto him. Other guests around the table all looked up and greeted with smiles before they sat back down and picked up their chopsticks and bowls as though they have just been released from prison and haven’t eaten in ages.
Nie ChengFeng’s brows twitched. Whatever happened to the big welcome that he was promised? Why didn’t he get the proper treatment of a secret guest?
Luckily, Li ManGe waved at him from one side and said, “ChengFeng-ge, c’mon over. I’ve set up your spot over here.”
When Nie ChengFeng finally settled in, he asked curiously, “You guys didn’t have breakfast?”
“We did, but if we don’t fight, food would be gone in no time,” said Feng Wei as he handed chopsticks and a bowl over to Nie ChengFeng. “Boss Nie, don’t be shy when the food comes. We’ve already gotten used to it in the last few days.”
Nie ChengFeng nodded with a mind full of questions. He scanned around and immediately spotted Nie AnAn and Qin ZiYi.
Qin ZiYi’s eyes had always glued onto him whenever he showed up in the past. Yet, today, she was so busy scooping rice into a bowl that she didn’t even notice that he was there.
Nie AnAn, on the other hand, was just sitting gracefully to one side. Chen Yanshu, sitting next to her, had already scooped her a bowl of rice and also thanked her.
Nie ChengFeng was still dumbfounded when someone suddenly called out, “Let’s start!”
Then, to his astonishment, he saw everyone, with the exception of Li ManGe and Nie AnAn, all started grabbing the food on the table and shoving them into their mouths at high speed.
Nie ChengFeng, “……” Did he join some sort of eating show by mistake?
Li ManGe, sitting next to him, gave him a gentle reminder, “ChengFeng-ge, don’t be shy. If you don’t fight for it, they will be gone in no time.”
Nie ChengFeng nodded before he picked up a piece of black pepper beef and put it into his mouth.
His look froze for a while then. After he had finished swallowing the piece of beef in disbelief, he asked immediately, “Who made this? Why was it so tasty?”
“It’s AnAn,” said Zhang ZhouYu from the other side. “AnAn is the nutritionist of our inn. Look at how busy our inn is, Mr. Nie. That’s all because of AnAn’s cooking.”
Nie ChengFeng glanced over at the nice little girl sitting across from him. He had done some research. Others might not associate her with Huo YanXiao’s sister, but he knew that she was just that girl with her tattoos removed.
Did that mean that Huo YanXiao has food of this caliber at home every day? Nie ChengFeng suddenly felt a pang of envy.
Then, immediately after that, he had no more time to think about anything else. Everybody was right, if he didn’t act now, there would be nothing left.
Finally, after lunch was over, everybody plopped back in their chairs and rubbed their fully extended stomachs.
Chen YanShu measured her own waist and sighed that she could not eat any more during the next meal. If she ate any more, she wouldn’t be able to film her next martial art show.
Feng Wei shared that his fan had already said that if he gained any more weight, he would no longer be their manga-face idol.
Nie AnAn smiled and said that she’d make a weight-loss meal next. No matter how they eat, they wouldn’t gain a pound.
All of a sudden, all their eyes beamed and all the decisions went out the window.
It was Li ManGe’s turn to do the dishes today. She stood up and walked into the kitchen with Nie ChengFeng following her.
“Ziming came here with me today. He wanted to come over and say hi, but it was so crowded over here that he wasn’t able to get in,” said Nie ChengFeng.
Li ManGe nodded. “Yeah, I know. This is all because AnAn’s cooking is too popular. Our inn had been crowded like that every day for a while now.”
Nie ChengFeng asked, “You don’t remember AnAn?”
He remembered clearly that back when Nie AnAn was pursuing Qin ZiMing, the two girls had met a few times and there seemed to have some unpleasant exchanges between the two.
“What do you mean by that?” asked Li ManGe dubiously.
Nie ChengFeng could tell that she really wasn’t faking it, smiled, and said, “Nothing. I must have been mistaken.”
