Chapter 12 - Fainting (2)

Someone finally recollected himself and shoved the microphone in front of Nie AnAn—

“Miss Nie, what’s your take on your brother’s acquisition and Young Master Chen’s suicide?”

Once someone had asked the first question, that reminded the rest of the reporters and they all started firing questions –

“Miss Nie, before Young Master Chen committed suicide, he had called your brother many times and even waited in front of his company for three days, can you confirm whether that was true?”

“Miss Nie, this must be the third victim driven to commit suicide by your brother, how do you sleep at night?”

The reporter fired a string of questions. Nie AnAn frowned, she seemed to have smell something with her highly sensitive nose.

It so happened that there was a break in the police line at that moment. Nie AnAn glanced over and saw blood on the ground.

The red and the white contracted drastically.

“Ugh—”

She felt her stomach roiled and as though someone had struck her sharply on her head. The world in front of her started to spin and she started to collapse.

Except that, the second before she closed her eyes, a strong arm wrapped around her waist and a male voice said into her ears, “Miss, are you alright?”

Nie AnAn was seeing black. Through the blurriness, she could sort of make out a pair of peach blossom eyes and two small moles next to the corner of his left eye. The moles make the whole face seem lively.

The unique characteristics remind her of a name: Nie Chengfeng.

In the novel, he was mentioned as the successor of the Nie’s. The Nie’s, much like the Qin’s, were both prominent families in Capital City.

This Nie Chengfeng might looked like a playboy at first glance, but he was a cunning and vicious man when it came to businesses.

Eighteen years ago, the Nie’s had run into some serious problems, and it quickly escalated. It was only after Nie ChengFeng turned 16 and took over the family business that he brought the family that was close to bankruptcy back to the top.

But what was Nie ChengFeng doing here? Nie AnAn didn't have time to give that too much thought. She was just happy that someone stopped her from falling all the way to the ground, and she wouldn’t get her clothes dirty.

When she woke up again, she was in the hospital with an IV going into her.

Seeing that she had opened her eyes, Cucumber was finally able to let out a sigh of relief and said, “Young Miss, how are you feeling?”

“I’m alright,” said Nie AnAn in her soft voice, “I’m in the hospital?”

“Yes, Young Miss, you had passed out earlier.” Cucumber said, “I’ll let Boss Huo know that you are awake.”

“Did my brother know that I have passed out?” asked Nie AnAn.

“Boss Huo was in a meeting at the time, so….” Cucumber was a bit dodgy toward the question.

Nie AnAn got it right away. Huo YanXiao did find out, but he didn’t pay too much attention to it, which would explain Cucumber’s reaction.

The suspicion in her mind grew, what had caused Huo YanXiao to be so distant from her?

Besides, she just recalled that only Qin ZiMing and his buddies were supposed to be at the club the other day. The original owner was insulted by them after her arrival, and Huo YanXiao wasn’t there at all.

There were just so many discrepancies between what was going on and how it was described in the book, making her grow progressively more suspicious.

Cucumber went to get Nie AnAn some food after he had finished sending the message.

When Nie AnAn saw Cucumber returning with the takeout, she frowned.

She looked at the IV that was almost all empty, hesitated for a quick second, and yanked it out. “I want to go home.”

She was hungry and wanted to go home for food. She absolutely refused to eat takeout.

Cucumber wasn’t able to convince Nie AnAn otherwise, so he went to take care of her release and drove Nie AnAn back to the mansion.

On their way back, Nie AnAn sent a message to Huo YanXiao, “Big brother, I have checked myself out of the hospital. What would you like to have for dinner?”

It was close to the end of the workday, and Huo YanXiao was just wrapping up a business meeting. With a slightly happy look, he said, “This project had gone so well. Thank you all for your hard work!”

Inside the conference room, the senior management who helped him achieve his accomplishments today also looked more relaxed. “So, is Boss Huo going to take us out to dinner?”

“Of cour….” Huo YanXiao looked down and read the message that just came in. When he looked up again, he said smoothly, “Of course, but not today. I have other engagements today.”
