Chapter 10 - Meow~ (2)
As far as the unconscientious Ye Qing was concerned, the arrival of the little girl was but a minor event. She completely forgotten about it afterward.
Inside her yard, after she took a nice nap, played a few games of anipop, and watched a few episodes of historical drama, it was already the evening.
All the families in the area had already started preparing for dinner. Sniffing the dinner aroma in the air, Ye Qing was hungry.
She wondered whether Big Aunt and Second Aunt would bring her dinner. One must know that she had hinted quite a few times that she didn’t know how to cook.
She could make a few dishes, but nothing tasty. It’d be a good change if she had fine dining all the time. But to have it on a regular basis, her cooking just wasn’t that tasty.
Plus, she didn’t feel like making dinner tonight.
She’d give it 15 more minutes. She’d order delivery if nobody brings her dinner.
It was just her by herself. Eating was easy anyway.
With a bag of snack peanuts from the grocery store in her hand, Ye Qing rolled back onto her lounge chair. She pulled her soft, little blanket back over her, turned on her speaker, and along with the beautiful melody, chowed down on the crunchy peanuts as she appreciated the bright, red clouds on the sky.
Five minutes later, she saw her First and Second Aunt coming into her yard bringing with them lunch boxes within minutes of each other. Ye Qing couldn’t help but sighed to herself –
A two-bedroom and one-bath condo in a big city still has its draw!
Touched, Ye Qing took the lunch boxes from them and opened them both up to take a look. She was impressed by how perfect they looked.
The two aunties had been housewives for tens of years. Their cooking could totally rival any executive chef at a restaurant!
Ye Qing said genuinely, “Thank you so much, Big Aunty and Second Aunty. I will eat one tonight and save the other one for lunch tomorrow. I only need to reheat it in the microwave.”
Second Aunt looked very friendly. She gave Big Aunt a smile and said, “Had I known sister-in-law was going to bring over dinner, I would have brought over lunch tomorrow instead. We wouldn’t want Ah Qing to have leftovers the next day now, would we? How about you take care of dinner from now on and I will take care of lunch?”
Big Aunt gave Second Aunt an unhappy look and grumbled as an acknowledgement.
Ye Qing still has one more year to live; there was no rush. She might as well tag team with Second Aunt’s family for the time being and figure something out in the very last month and that would be sufficient.
Coincidentally, that was Second Aunt’s thought as well.
Now that the two aunties had arrived at some sort of an agreement, they both turned to look at Ye Qing, as though they have something on their minds.
Normally, they worried about Ye Qing’s illness and would never sit down and chitchat with her. Rather, they would just drop off her meals and find some excuses to get out of there.
They were lingering behind right now because they had something they wanted to talk to her about.
Ye Qing looked at her two aunties, who were sitting at a curious distance from her, and didn’t say anything, just smiled at them in a friendly manner.
Big Aunty was the one who couldn’t keep anything bottled up. It had only been a few seconds before she said, “Ah Qing, now that you are here, your apartment in the city must be vacant. Isn’t that kind of wasteful? What I want to say is, do you remember your little cousin? He just graduated college in June and got a job. He has to work a lot of overtime and the pay was paltry, so he quit. He will sever all ties with the company in the next couple of days. But, he is also staying at the company’s housing. Once he leaves, he will have nowhere to say. What say he stays at your place temporarily? It’s just vacant anyway, wouldn’t you say?”
