Chapter 7 - Mommy! (3)
After saying in a hotel for three days, Ye Qing was able to move into an emptied-out house. She had no idea how they were able to arrange that so quickly.
And, Big Aunt and her family had been very thoughtful as well. The empty house had been cleaned thoroughly, and they even added some new furniture.
They did, however, stay very far from her when they took the credit, as though they were very worried about contracting her “terminal illness.”
Ye Qing saw it all but didn’t point it out. She only smiled with appreciation and said many nice words. She subtly suggested that, “Oh, you have been so nice to me. Keep up the good work for the year to come, and I will give you my house and apartment!”
Big Aunt was very happy with the outcome. Due to having to attend to other matters at home and that she worried about staying too long, she bid her farewell.
Ye Qing couldn’t be happier to be left alone. She unwrapped the delivery that just arrived and set up her new lounge chair in the backyard under a large tree.
When she laid here, her face would be under the shade, but the rest of her body was under the sun.
It was perfect.
She then made a trip inside the house and walked back out with a soft, white blanket, a beige-colored thermal cup, and a plate of fresh fruits.
She first placed the thermal cup and fruits on a chair next to her, then she laid down comfortably. Placing the little blanket over her belly she started basking in the sun. From time to time, she’d pick a piece of honeydew with a toothpick.
When she was thirsty, she would take a sip of the jujube and goji water.
It was early November, and fall was already here. Ye Qing lied directly across from a ginkgo tree.
The ginkgo tree was very leafy with half of its leaves yellow and half of them green. It glimmered beautifully under the sun.
She appreciated that for a while and yawned. She started to get sleepy and her eyelids started to droop slowly.
And then, there was knocking on her door. Three times.
Ye Qing didn’t want to deal with that so she continued to lie there, pretending that she wasn’t home.
The person outside was very persistent. They didn’t say anything, but just kept on knocking. They’d knock on the door three times, paused for three seconds, then knocked three more times. So on and so forth.
Ye Qing laid there for three more minutes and the person outside stayed the entire time.
She was a little curious as to who it could be so she got up, went over, and opened the door.
As soon as she opened the door, a little body rushed in, threw her arms around both of her legs, and said in a milky voice, “Mommy!”
Ye Qing wasn’t quite ready for that, “???”
What the heck???
She was a little dumbfounded. With an indescribable look, she looked down at the soft, little creature that still had her arms around her.
The soft creature was a three-year-old, soft, fair-skinned little girl with rosy cheeks that looked like she was carved out of a piece of jade.
She had a head of shoulder-length hair with curly ends that went down to her shoulder.
Her face was pale in color with large eyes. Her eyes were a rare blue color. They were as blue as the sky that day.
The little girl had on a white dress and was cute like an angel.
And, this angel was hugging her right now and looking up at her full of yearning and happiness. Seeing Ye Qing looking down at her, she called out again in her sweet voice, “Mommy!”
Ye Qing, “……”
