Chapter 3
Breakfast was over while the two siblings bickered. Lu QingXin carried Lu Hao’s little suitcase downstairs. His music teacher Cyrillic had arranged for his assistant to come pick Lu Hao up and take him to the airport. As Lu QingXin still has to go to work and Lu MengMeng had to go to school, they could only bid him farewell at the bottom of their apartment.
Once they were downstairs, Lu Hao suddenly turned around. Lu MengMeng was standing the closest to him and immediately saw that the jerk’s eyes were red. Lu MengMeng occasionally could sense his feelings. She felt a pang of sadness all of a sudden and her eyes reddened also. Thinking that she might not see him for a while, tears started rolling around her eyes.
She threw her arms around him and started crying, “Jerk, you come back soon, okay? Don’t forget about mom and I just because you are overseas…”
Lu Hao might act like an adult normally, but he was 4 years old after all. Once his sister started crying, he started crying with her. He hugged her tightly and said through his tears, “Mm. I will come back as soon as I can… MengMeng be nice. Listen to mom and eat your vegetables… “
This was the first time the two of them were apart since the day they were born.
Lu QingXin also started crying on one side. And the three of them hugged and cried.
The black car took off with Lu Hao and the mother and daughter duo stood on the side of the road watching the car as it drove out of their sight. Having someone left all of a sudden made them feel like a part of them were emptied out.

Now that Lu Hao was gone, Lu MengMeng, who used to always have her twin brother around, now had to go to and from the kindergarten by herself and felt a bit lonely.
Luckily, she had many friends in kindergarten and still had a good time at school. The only problem was that she had to be home alone for a long time as the Fate of Dreams Hotel was very busy, and her mother had to work long hours a lot.
Sometimes, Lu QingXin didn’t feel comfortable having her home alone and she’d let her go to her good friend Gu Fei’s place to work on her homework. Gu Fei was a good friend of Lu QingXin’s from college. Back when Lu QingXin was up against the wall, it was Gu Fei who helped by her looking for a rental place and taking care of her children during those first few months. Lu QingXin had always said that Gu Fei was the benefactor to the three of them.
Lu MengMeng and her good friend Tong Yiman held hands as they walked toward Aunty Gu’s direction. The two split up at an intersection after making plans to go to school together the next day, then Lu MengMeng walked down a different street to head over to Aunty Gu’s.
She had walked down this path many times with Lu Hao, so she wasn’t afraid at all.
The sea breeze coming from the azure ocean felt very comfortable under the early autumn sun.
As usual, she took the blue tile brick road that led upwards. As she walked past an alleyway, she was surprised by the sound of a heavy object hitting the ground along with the noise of a metal trash can being knocked over.
Lu MengMeng was startled. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest. She thought it was a stray dog, which she was deadly afraid of. She carefully looked down the alleyway and just when she was about to sneak away, she noticed that it wasn’t a dog after all, but a man in cammie lying on the ground. His blood was rolling down the grouts between the blue tile bricks.
This scene was really scarier than a stray dog, but for some odd reason, Lu MengMeng felt a tug inside her heart that slowly guided her toward the man in his cammie.
Even though the man in cammie was lying on the ground, he still seemed very tall and huge. He seemed twice her mother’s size. Lu MengMeng’s heart was pounding even faster. She walked around the blood carefully and saw the man’s face under his cammie cap.
It was a face that she couldn’t be more familiar with – it was almost identical to Lu Hao’s face that she had only been looking at for the past 4 years!
Something popped into Lu MengMeng’s mind all of a sudden. In the summary of that novel, it was said that Gu Hao looked 90% like his domineering CEO father! In fact, the story started when the two nearly identical faces met.
