Chapter 9 - Brushing His Teeth Is A Big Deal (2)
Cheng Huan was woken up by a nightmare.
She dreamed about an apocalypse. Countless meteorites pelted the earth, and one of them landed right on top of her. She couldn’t breathe under the rock and was not even able to call out for help.
She finally opened her eyes right before her last breath. She sat up, gasping for air, and the little body that was laying on her chest rolled down onto her legs.
They went to bed too late the night before so that didn’t wake the little kiddo up. He was still snoring in his new position.
Looking at XingXing on her thighs, Cheng Huan paused for a bit before she recalled the fact that she had just become his mother.
She let out her breath and wiped away the sweat on her head.
No wonder she dreamt about what she dreamed about. She had no idea when the little kiddo climbed on top of her.
She felt icky being soaked in sweat, so she gently moved the kiddo to one side, got out of bed, and took another shower.
When XingXing finally woke up, he was the only one in the room.
He rubbed his eyes as he scrambled to sit up. He looked around the room, noticing that he was still inside his mother’s bedroom and started giggling foolishly.
The smell of food invaded the room but XingXing didn’t dare to go outside without clothes on. He rubbed his belly and gulped at the aroma of the food.
He wished those were food made by his mommy; he was hungry.
But the noodles that she made the night before were quite good as well. It was the best food he has ever had.
Recalling the taste of the noodles from the night before, XingXing drooled.
He wiped away his drool next to his mouth and smacked his lips.
He wished his mommy would make him noodles again.
When Cheng Huan finished preparing the meal and came inside to wake her son up, she saw XingXing sitting up in bed with a gluttony look.
“What are you thinking about?” Cheng Huan walked inside with his clothes in her hands. “How come you didn’t call me after you woke up?”
“Mom.” XingXing bounced up and threw himself at her. “Mom!”
Cheng Huan put his clothes down on the bed and hugged him. “Hmm? What’s the matter?”
“The noodles were so good!” He looked at Cheng Huan. His eyes were sparkling but as he was too afraid to ask directly so he figured out the art of flattery without needing to be taught. “Mommy is so awesome!”
The scheming of a little child was always cute. Cheng Huan pinched his chubby face and smiled. “Mommy made something different today. Would XingXing like to have some?”
“Yes!” XingXing nodded and replied loudly.
“Then let’s put our clothes on and go brush our teeth. Eat after we have brushed our teeth, okay?”
The original owner didn’t care about her son. He was only bathed once every few days and brushing his teeth was nonexistent.
Little kids were always against brushing their teeth. None of them would do so without being told to.
XingXing was still young, and his teeth were fine. But Cheng Huan did recall from the novel that the female supporting character’s son had lost half of his baby teeth, and Mother Jiang was very displeased about that.
She had no intention to bring XingXing to look for his paternal side like they did in the book, but she couldn’t stand her child to not care about personal hygiene either.
Cheng Huan jotted down all the minor problems and bought a kid's toothbrush and toothpaste from the grocery store first thing this morning. She would start trying to correct all his little bad habits starting today.
XingXing with a straight face contemplated that for a while seriously before he said, “Alright.”
He had seen his mommy brushing her teeth every morning and had given it a try himself before, but he was taken aback by the strange taste of the toothpaste. But since his mother had requested, he thought he could eat that strange stuff.
XingXing’s little face looked very solemn. He thrusted his head inside of Cheng Huan’s chest and rubbed up against her a couple of times. He wondered if his mommy didn’t like him before because he didn’t brush his teeth,
If he started brushing his teeth from now on, he hoped that his mommy would always like him as much as she did right now!
