Chapter 22 - Dogskin Plaster (The first minute after being apart from the little fox. I miss her already.) (2)
The little assistant blocked the door and wouldn’t leave unless Jiang YueXian left with her. Jiang YueXian had no other choices other than putting the fox down gently onto the couch and went to get changed.
Seeing that the opportunity had presented itself, Xu WanZhi quickly jumped onto the floor, dashed into the bathroom, and converted back to human form. She quickly sent a text to Xiao Yuan, “My fox was taken away by Jiang YueXian’s dog. Go quickly to Yueting Hotel Room 1208 and bring it back to my room. Hurry!!!”
After a little while, Xu WanZhi heard the bedroom door being opened and quickly turned back into her fox form. She then walked over to the front door and waited for Xiao Yuan.
After Jiang YueXian had changed out of his casual clothes, he looked like a much more serious person. He picked the little fox up again from the floor and wanted to give her a big kiss.
Xu WanZhi, naturally, didn’t want him to do that. She tried as hard as she could to kick him on his nose.
Luckily, Xiao Yuan had finally got there by then. She ran over there and took a few deep breaths before she said to Jiang YueXian, “I’m sorry, Mr. Jiang. I am Xiao Yuan, Xu WanZhi’s assistant. This is her fox and we don’t know how it got here. Miss Xu had asked me to bring her back. Can you please…”
“Oh, she belongs to Xu WanZhi?” Hearing that name, Jiang YueXian’s face dropped immediately as though it wasn’t a fox that he was carrying, but a knock-off purse. With a look of disgust, he thrusted the fox into Xiao Yuan’s arms and said, “Why does she have to belong to Xu WanZhi and not anyone else? Here, you can have her back.”
Even Jiang YueXian’s assistant added unhappily, “Such bad luck!”
Xiao Yuan immediately thanked them before she headed back toward the hotel room that the production team had booked for Xu WanZhi.
After Xiao Yuan was gone, Jiang YueXian let out a long sigh and said, “Aye… the first minute after being apart from the little fox, I miss her already.”
His assistant patted him on his back and said, “That’s Xu WanZhi. We have been trying hard to lose her. Don’t engage.”
All Jiang YueXian could think of was that little fox. He couldn’t help but defend Xu WanZhi. “You know, her new agent came and talked to me a couple of days ago. She told me that it was Xu WanZhi’s old agent’s idea for her to try and leech off of my popularity. Xu WanZhi didn’t want that herself. Look, she hasn’t been coming around since she has this new agent, right? It couldn’t hurt to have another friend. I think I could totally try to work things out with her…”
His assistant was speechless. “Do you remember what you’ve told me when you learned that she was going to be at this studio? You said she was dogskin plaster (quack medicine). You said she was chewed gum stuck to the bottom of someone’s shoes. And now you are defending her? You are a pathetic slave to the furry animals.”
Xu WanZhi was carried inside the elevator by Xiao Yuan before they could no longer hear the words between those two.
Xu WanZhi couldn’t help but chuckle to herself. So he called her dogskin plaster huh? And chewed gum? Oh, alright. What goes around comes around. That chatty Jiang YueXian would never get to stroke her noble coat ever again!
After Xiao Yuan had brought her back to her room, she quickly changed back into her human form and ran straight to the studio.
Luckily, the director was still busy with the props and she was just a few minutes late. She quickly went inside the dressing room, got dressed, and went to put makeup on. When all was said and done and she had walked out of the dressing room, Xiao Yuan had already opened up a coconut and handed it over to her.
“I ran after you earlier and forgot about your coconuts. These were sent over by Mr. Mu. He even told me to take them to the fruit stand outside for them to open them up for you. He said to tell you to not use the knife. He doesn’t want you hurting yourself accidentally,” said Xiao Yuan as she gestured with her own fingers. After a long wait, she added, “Oh, yeah, Mr. Mu asked you to drink more water and be careful not to get a heat stroke.”
Having heard that, Xu WanZhi was somewhat touched and she asked, “Where is he now?”
“He waited for a while in the car, but I wasn’t able to find you. He finally left to take care of his work,” said Xiao Yuan.
