Title: The Villain’s Mother

Chapter 90 - If people paid attention to the content of Ruan Xia's posts, they would discover that the style of Ruan Xia's posts on her Friends' Circle had drastically changed (2)
Duan Chi was sitting in the waiting room and looking around. It had taken him over a month to figure out the details of Ruan Xia’s situation. Although he had already known she had a husband and child from their first meeting, he hadn't expected that her husband was Song Tingshen.
Even though he didn't care about the business world and didn’t know much about it, he knew about Song Tingshen. Song Tingshen could be considered a legend in the industry. Without any background supporters, he had achieved his current results from scratch. Even if one were to survey this entire circle of business people, one wouldn't be able to find another person like Song Tingshen. Most importantly, he was still young. This meant that Song Corporation hadn't reached its peak yet. Even though Song Tingshen was a very capable person that had a lot of finesse, Duan Chi was sure that he wouldn't lose to him.
He had originally wanted to look for Ruan Xia directly, but he thought that would be too ungentlemanly. A real man wouldn't do that. A real man would directly pay Song Tingshen a visit.
He couldn't force Ruan Xia to face all sorts of problems on her own.
As a man, he should protect the woman that he liked.
Just as Duan Chi was inwardly encouraging himself, Song Tingshen entered the room and closed the door in the passing.
Song Tingshen hadn't expected this general manager to be so young. This general manager didn't have a mature air and seemed more like a recent college graduate. Song Tingshen walked up Duan Chi and stretched his hand out for a handshake. "Hello General Manager Duan, I'm Song Tingshen."
No matter how young the person in front of him looked, Song Tingshen wouldn't underestimate him. To become a general manager, this person must have an outstanding point such as a strong family background or high skill level. Regardless of which one it was, he shouldn't underestimate him. Moreover, he had started his career at a similar age, so he naturally wouldn't fail to respect young people.
Duan Chi stretched his hand out. "CEO Song, hello, I'm Duan Chi."
The two of them didn't have any connections with each other. There were no conflicts or personal grudges between them either. Duan Chi thought that interactions between men were different than ones between women; men would just frankly lay their cards on the table.
Song Tingshen sat down across from Duan Chi and cautiously asked, "General Manager Duan, why did you come see me today?"
He had tried to puzzle it out, but he really couldn't think of any possible areas of collaboration between Song Corporation and Duan Corporation.
Duan Chi wasn't the type of person that liked to speak in a roundabout way or how businessmen talked to each other. Besides, he wasn't here to talk to Song Tingshen about business. He was here to discuss personal matters with him, and it would be inappropriate to behave mincingly when having a man-to-man talk. Thinking of this, Duan Chi got straight to the point and said, "CEO Song, is Ruan Xia your wife? What would it take for you to divorce her?"
For the first time in his 35 years, Song Tingshen felt as if his brain had crashed.
For a while, he didn't recover from this shock. He was stunned by this young man's question.
Seeing that Song Tingshen wasn't speaking, Duan Chi grew confident. "I know you've been married for four years and have a son together too, but I also know there's no feelings between the two of you. I don't know if there was once something between the two of you, but I know there's nothing now. CEO Song, since the two of you aren't in love, why force yourselves to stay together? You don't have to worry. I'm not one of those petty people. I wouldn't stop my wife from interacting with her ex-husband. And, if you don't want custody of your son, I'll accept him. I'll treat him like he's my own son."
Translator Ramblings: When I first read the story, I thought Duan Chi was merely a bumbling romantic idiot, but on second read, I agree with Ruan Xia’s earlier point. What kind of individual goes after a married person that has a kid?
I find him patronizing. He casts her (and I feel all women) into the role of damsel in distress, as if she's emotionally too weak to save herself. It sounds like he hasn't even talked to the original before. He's just one-sidely playing out his fantasy of her. Even though he makes his intentions public instead of scheming around Li Jing, he's not any better than her.
