Chapter 15 - Do you have a cultivation partner? (2)
While Leng Mushi was sitting there in a daze with her hand on her face, Leng Tianyin came back with a cup of water she had just poured. Clutching the cup, Leng Tianyin sat down on the edge of the bed. Tears started to slide down her face and dripped into the cup.
Leng Tianyin thought her sister must be crushed because of the wound on her face.
"Sister… it's my fault, I'm so useless…" Leng Tianyin held the cup in both hands and wept.
"I'm sorry," she quietly murmured, "I'm sorry…"
Leng Mushi heard the sound of the tears falling into the cup and turned her head to look at Leng Tianyin. Just as she was feeling doubtful, the novel's law cleared up her confusion.
[You've entered the path to cultivation. You awakened your five elemental spiritual roots in advance.]
Leng Mushi was stunned. She was about to drive Leng Tianyin away, but the words got stuck in her throat.
What? Wasn't she unable to cultivate in the novel?
The novel's law didn't explain further. Leng Mushi was utterly bewildered. She carefully recalled the plot that the novel's law had shown her. She was sure that she would only be an outer disciple responsible for sweeping the grounds after arriving in the Taichu Sect in the original plot. How did she suddenly awaken five elemental spiritual roots?
Fenlian clamored again, "Isn't it good that you can cultivate? Why does the reason matter? Stop playing dead. Ask that elder for me if he has a woman…"
Leng Mushi's head was buzzing. She was confused about the current situation, and Leng Tianyin kept crying in front of her. She kept trying to hug her, but Leng Mushi pressed down on her shoulders to stop her each time.
"Stay away from me." Leng Mushi refused to get close to Leng Tianyin and wouldn't accept the cup of water she was offering.
"Sister… Are you mad with me? I'm useless. It's my fault. You risked your life to hold back that demoness…"
Leng Tianyin wiped her face hard, and her delicate face turned red. She raised her hand and vowed, "I'll work hard to cultivate when we get the Taichu Sect. If we encounter a similar situation again, I definitely won't abandon you…"
"Sister, drink some water." Leng Tianyin offered the cup of water again.
Leng Mushi coldly looked at her. She wasn't touched at all. She even inexplicably wanted to beat her. She could act like an infatuated person to seduce Xiao Mian, but she couldn't act like a loving sister.
She wasn't supposed to have a sister. Otherwise, how could she become a motherless child?
She knew that this wasn't Leng Tianyin's fault. Her birth wasn't her fault. She didn't know anything.
But, her existence incessantly reminded Leng Mushi of the day that she lost her mother.
On that day, the thickly falling snowflakes were swirling in the air, but their father was playing in the snow with Leng Tianyin. While the cute Leng Tianyin was riding on their father's shoulder, she was kneeling in the heavy snow. Her little hands and face had changed colors from the cold. She was kneeling to beg her father, that heartless man, to see her seriously ill mother one last time.
As for Leng Tianyin's mother, she was standing in the outside corridor and smiling as she watched her. She was a winner that didn't need to show off.
Just thinking about it for a moment, and she felt like she could still feel that cold and silent snowy day and the bone-chilling coldness with every inhale.
However, Leng Mushi was soon distracted by the racket in her mind and couldn't think about those messy memories. Somehow, the novel's law and the demoness had started quarreling.
"That's enough!" Leng Mushi hissed.
Leng Tianyin trembled. She thought Leng Mushi was talking to her, but she still stubbornly held out the cup of water and looked at her sister. Tears kept spilling out of Leng Tianyin's eyes, but she stayed silent.
"Stop crying. I didn't die." Once the voices stopped in her head, Leng Mushi calmly looked at Leng Tianyin. "I won't drink water that has your snot. Go to the side!"
After Leng Mushi pulled her to the side, Leng Tianyin looked at the cup of water she was holding and didn't see anything. However, thinking about her recent runny nose and tears, she thought it might be possible. With a somewhat red face, she retreated.
Leng Mushi had slept for too long and was a bit unsteady as she walked over to the table. She picked up the teapot on the table, tilted her head back, and drank straight from the teapot.
There was a knock on the door, but the door wasn't completely closed, so that knock opened the door. The person standing outside the door with his hand raised froze in surprise for a moment, and then he caught sight of the unrestrained and unruly Leng Mushi. Her clothes were disheveled, and she was standing barefoot with her head tilted back to drink water.
Xiao Mian's eyes flashed, and he gaped a bit when he saw her, and then his eyes lit up. He was neatly dressed and didn't have a strand of hair out of place.
He turned sideways and respectfully said to the Taichu Sect's sixth elder, Immortal Master Qu Yang, who was standing behind him, "Immortal Master, Miss Leng is awake."
Fenlian's chirping voice suddenly sounded in Leng Mushi's voice, "It's that elder. Oh my, he looks so good. Those legs of his, oh lala. You can tell he's good in bed just from his waist! I just don't know how big he's down there."
Leng Mushi almost spat out the water in her mouth. She was barely able to keep her expression normal. If this elder could hear Fenlian's comments, he would probably kill her along with Fenlian.
She was just an unmarried girl and was so affected by Fenlian's words that she couldn't resist glancing at the elder's lower half. Steam was about to come out of her head.
Leng Mushi put down the teapot and casually wiped her mouth. She didn't know any of the elders from the Taichu Sect, but it was definitely right to be respectful to an old fellow like him if she wanted to join the sect later.
She haphazardly adjusted her appearance and turned sideways to look at Leng Tianyin, who was already politely bowing. There was no trace that her face had been a mess of tears and snot recently.
She expected nothing less from the heroine.
