Chapter 203 - Who was he calling wife? (2)
Bei Nuan suddenly heard Little Three ask, "Bei Nuan, are you not going to do your Little Delightful Task?"
She had almost forgotten about that. To complete the Witch's Prayer, she had to collect someone's fingernail, hair, and eyelash.
Lu Xingchi was sitting next to her. It shouldn't be difficult to get his hair and what not, right?
Bei Nuan looked him over. He was very tidy. His white shirt was a dazzling white. She couldn't see a single hair on his clothes.
Lu Xingchi noticed her gaze and lightly asked, "Why are you staring at me?"
Startled, Bei Nuan sat up straight. "I'm not. I was thinking I should drink more hot water."
Jiang Fei gently smiled at her. "There's boiled sweetened ginger water in the thermos on the table over there. Take your time drinking. It's hot."
Bei Nuan got up. As she passed by Lu Xingchi, she checked his back. There was nothing there either.
Bei Nuan felt quite regretful. Holding the cup, she took a sip. She would have to be more active in collecting the items.
The group was done playing Werewolf. Lu Xingchi was about to go upstairs to his room. He said he wanted to read a book.
Bei Nuan hastily tossed her gaming chips onto the coffee table and followed him upstairs.
Lu Xingchi noticed that she had followed him to his room. From the small nail clipper she was holding, her purpose here was obvious.
She held up the nail clipper. "Lu Xingchi, do you want to cut your nails?"
Lu Xingchi found her behavior odd. "I did that yesterday. Didn't I ask you for the nail clippers yesterday?"
Oh, right, that did happen.
"Why do I think…" Bei Nuan's tone was hesitant. "One of your fingernails doesn't look neatly cut?"
Lu Xingchi calmly looked at her. He looked at her with the same gaze he used when he was determining if she was a wolf or a villager during their games.
Bei Nuan couldn't feel less confident, but she tried her best to look him in the eyes. She silently encouraged herself by thinking; no one can see through me.
Lu Xingchi suddenly compromised. He reached over her shoulder to close the door, then he walked over to the bed and sat down.
"Which fingernail?" he asked.
"Uh… one of your fingers on the left hand," Bei Nuan said, "Or one of the fingers on your right hand." Anyways, it had to be his left hand or right hand. He didn't have a third hand.
Lu Xingchi simply stretched out both hands. "Which one?"
Bei Nuan thought; they both looked beautiful. His hands were clean, his fingers were slender, and his fingernails were neat and glossy. Most importantly, they were freshly cut, and she couldn't find anything wrong with any of them.
"That one? The edges might need to be fixed a bit." Bei Nuan could only randomly point at one.
Lu Xingchi didn't move and only looked at Bei Nuan. He didn't look like he was going to fix his fingernail himself.
His unwillingness to do it himself was just what Bei Nuan wanted. The person cutting had to be careful. What if the clipped fingernail went flying and got lost?
"I'll help you." Bei Nuan took his hand, randomly chose a finger, held it between her fingers, and clipped down.
He had left a narrow white border on each fingernail when he was cutting his nails. The white part was exactly the same on each finger. Once she cut one nail, she ruined its perfect form.
Bei Nuan felt a bit guilty. She raised her eyes to sneak a peek at Lu Xingchi only to find out that he hadn't been looking at his fingernail at all. His eyes were fixed on her face.
Bei Nuan let go of his hand. "I'm done."
She had already put the clipped fingernail into her pocket space.
"Do my other fingernails need to be cut?" Lu Xingchi nonchalantly asked.
"Nope." Bei Nuan laughed from awkwardness. His hand was so beautiful. The more she cut it, the worse it would look.
"But I seem to see a white hair here!" Bei Nuan pointed at his head.
Lu Xingchi was still unfazed. He asked, "Where?"
Bei Nuan knelt on the bed and turned his head.
Jiang Fei was the one that had cut Lu Xingchi's hair, and Jiang Fei had done a surprisingly good job. Lu Xingchi had also cut Jiang Fei's hair in return. Anyways, since they cut each other's hair, there would be mutual restraint. Neither of them would have to worry the other one would do a bad job.
In contrast, Du Ruo had given Tang Tang a haircut two days ago. If Jiang Fei hadn't quickly put a stop to Du Ruo's hair cutting, Tang Tang would have ended up with a mohawk.
Bei Nuan chose the longest hair and pulled it out.
"Oh, opps, I was wrong." Bei Nuan showed him the hair. "I thought it was white. Maybe it's because the sunlight is too bright and the reflecting light makes this strand of hair look white."
After Bei Nuan showed him the hair, she brushed her hands as if she was getting rid of the hair, but in fact, she had put the hair into her pocket space.
"That's okay," Lu Xingchi serenely said.
