Chapter 113 - First Kiss (2)
Lu Xingchi drove the jeep back to Shui University. Shui University's library was close to its main entrance. The library's floor-to-ceiling windows were quite conspicuous.
Lu Xingchi cleared out the zombies in their way with his crossbow and took Bei Nuan upstairs.
Bei Nuan obediently followed him. She felt embarrassed on the way here. He was bringing her to the library just to kiss her.
The library's second floor was a reading room. Half of it was rows of bookshelves, and the other half was several large tables facing a window.
The lights were still on. This was a place that was usually crowded in the evenings, and it would be difficult to find a free table. But now, it was deserted.
Lu Xingchi checked over the place, cleared out a few zombies, took a random book from the bookshelf, and handed it to Bei Nuan.
Bei Nuan glanced at the cover. Advanced mathematics.
Seeing those words were enough to make her lose her appetite and give her insomnia, even Lu Xingchi lost his appeal.
Bei Nuan quickly put the book back to its original spot and chose another book.
Lu Xingchi brought Bei Nuan to a spot near the windows, pressed her to sit down, and asked, "There's no sun now. Is the moonlight okay?"
There was a bright, half-moon hanging high in the apocalyptic night sky. She could see it from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Bei Nuan nodded.
Lu Xingchi walked away and came back a moment later. He stood behind Bei Nuan and leaned down.
Bei Nuan suddenly found out that he had a strong presence. Even if she didn't look back, she could feel his approach. She could feel his warmth through his thin shirt. His warmth enveloped her. His aura was undoubtedly strong, forceful, and full of aggressiveness.
"What are you reading?" He went over her shoulder to look at the book she was holding. He was too close, and his breath brushed her cheek. His tone was casual and natural, not like he was reciting a line.
Bei Nuan's heart suddenly palpitated. Her mind was flooded with thoughts of his earlier forceful kiss.
In a fluster, Bei Nuan failed to close the book to show him the cover.
Lu Xingchi reached out and loosely held her hand to close the book together.
He glanced at the cover. "History of Ethics. I took this class."
Still holding her hand and maintaining his posture, he smiled and whispered into her ear, "I did pretty well in the class. Do you want me to tutor you?"
Bei Nuan turned her head and crashed into his usually pale and bitterly cold eyes, but there was a bit of warmth in them.
"Okay," Bei Nuan softly agreed.
He curved the corners of his mouth a bit. "Then I'll have to charge… some tuition first."
His long eyelashes lowered, and he softly kissed Bei Nuan's lips.
Then, he moved back a little bit. His eyes seem to trace her eyebrows, nose, and finally her mouth. And then, he gently kissed her again.
This was a gossamer-like kiss that only lasted a moment, but Bei Nuan felt her heart beating so loudly that she couldn't hear anything else. There was only the thrumming of her heartbeat.
When he kissed her again, there was a little bit more pressure on her lips. His lips gently wandered over hers.
Bei Nuan felt a bit dizzy, and she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Lu Xingchi suddenly tensed up, and a low sigh-like sound came from his throat.
Bei Nuan felt herself being picked up from the chair and placed on the table.
He held her with one hand and placed his other hand on the table for support as he leaned over to deepen the kiss. He couldn't resist using his tongue again.
However, Bei Nuan couldn't care about that anymore. She felt like a small boat that was spinning in the stormy apocalypse sea. He was the only stable existence, the only fulcrum, and her only hope. The moonlight of the apocalypse night and the light from the empty library spun and twisted, forming a brilliant spiral of lights.
In a daze, Bei Nuan tightly hugged him, but he suddenly paused.
"What's wrong?" Bei Nuan asked, not clear-headed yet.
"It's nothing, just zombies. They're gone," he said and moved back to her lips, unwilling to part from her.
After an unknown time had passed, Bei Nuan moved away from his lips to catch her breath and rested her head on his broad chest.
"We should probably go back now," Bei Nuan said.
He lightly ran his hand up and down her hair. "Is that enough for your first kiss? Are you satisfied?"
"Mhm," Bei Nuan quietly said, "Let's go?"
Lu Xingchi didn't let go. "Then what about the first kiss I've imagined?"
Bei Nuan: ???
Bei Nuan was speechless. "Stop messing around. You're a guy, why would you daydream about your first kiss?"
Lu Xingchi calmly answered, "Why not? I daydreamed about it half an hour ago."
