Title: A Fake Holy Mother in the Zombie Apocalypse
Translator: Little Bamboo Spirit
Chapter 90 - I bet 20 yuan that I won't mutate (1)
Lu Xingchi raised his crossbow. As he was thinking about how to aim the arrow to stop the boy, he saw Bei Nuan taking out a small mirror.
She angled the round mirror to reflect a beam of sunlight onto the boy's face.
The reflection traveled faster than Lu Xingchi's arrow. As the boy was about to take another step towards the edge, he noticed the unusually bright light reflected from below.
Bei Nuan put away her mirror and poked her head out from their hiding spot. She swung her arms at the boy, and then crossed her arms to form a big X. Her meaning was obvious; don't jump.
Countless zombies were still rushing through the front door of the dorm building, and there were thumps coming from behind the door that led to the rooftop.
"What should we do?" Bei Nuan asked Lu Xingchi.
"There are too many zombies, and this isn't a good angle to shoot." As Lu Xingchi spoke, he stretched his hand towards the roof. "I'll try another method. It's a bit far. I don't know if it'll work."
The metal pipe on the rooftop suddenly elongated like stretched rubber. It extended out into the air like it was alive and finally stopped on the roof of the opposite building.
Bei Nuan couldn't see it from where she was, but the boy had a clear view of it. The elongated pipe welded to the pipes on the other rooftop in no time at all. Just like that, a miracle had occurred, and he could escape from the rooftop. It was just that this path wasn't easy to go.
No one wanted to die if they could live. The boy didn't hesitate. He immediately bent down and gripped the pipe with both hands to begin crawling over.
The distance between the two dorm buildings wasn't close, and buildings were six floors tall. Falling from this height could be fatal.
The thumps behind the rooftop door grew louder.
The rooftop door was made of thin wood. It wasn't strong. The stick he used to keep the door closed was about to fall over. The boy hurried up and hugged the pipe with his arms and legs like a koala. Just like that, he inched his way forward on the pipe that was suspended between the two buildings.
When he was at the halfpoint, the rooftop door slammed open.
The zombies rushed out of the narrow door with a roar and onto the rooftop.
The boy's loudspeaker was on the ground, but he had disappeared.
The zombies located the boy, who was trying to climb forward on the pipe. Some of the zombies were stupid and jumped towards him, only to fall down like dumplings.
Other zombies weren't so stupid and wanted to mimick the boy by climbing onto the pipe too. Unfortunately for them, there was only one pipe, and it was a mess with so many zombies fighting to get onto the pipe.
Lu Xingchi raised his crossbow and helped the boy by clearing the zombies that wanted to climb onto the pipe.
However, the zombies were like a tide. Wave after wave of them jostled against the metal pipe, causing it to shake. The boy's feet slid off the pipe. Fortunately, his hands still had a death grip on the pipe.
Under this critical situation, the boy didn't bother trying to pull his feet back up. He crawled forward using his hands and finally made it to the other side. With all of his strength, he got his feet back up on the pipe and climbed onto the rooftop.
As soon as he left the pipe, the metal pipe broke off from the rooftop and retracted back to the original rooftop like a snail retracting back into its shell.
Although this rooftop was safe for now, the boy knew that he had no time to lose. He had to get out now while the zombies were still in the opposite building. The rooftop door was locked. The boy looked around, found a cement block, and slammed it against the door. It only took a few hits to break a hole in the thin wooden door. He unlocked the door and rushed into the safe passage.
Bei Nuan saw him entering the passage and took a deep breath. She had been so nervous earlier that she forgot to breathe.
Lu Xingchi led everyone to sneak over to that building and calmly cleared out the remaining zombies that were close to that building. Right after he had cleared out those zombies, they saw that boy poking his head around the door.
The boy was very observant and noticed Bei Nuan and the others right away. He stealthily made his way over to them under the cover of shrubbery.
The first question he asked when he made his way over was, "Were you guys behind that metal pipe? Do you guys have special abilities?"
