Title: A Fake Holy Mother in the Zombie Apocalypse
Translator: Little Bamboo Spirit
Chapter 34 - Out-of-place (4)
Bei Nuan was puzzled. This scene hadn't happened in the novel. Was this a hidden plot? It had been less than a day since the start of the zombie outbreak. How did a zombie virus inhibitor appear?
Du Ruo was currently wandering inside the restaurant. He suddenly called out to Lu Xingchi. "Come here, take a look."
There were brown marks on the utility room where the cleaning supplies were stored.
Lu Xingchi opened the door and took a look. There were several people thrown inside. Two of those people were dressed in waiter clothing. There weren't any zombie bites on them, only close-range gunshot wounds on their foreheads. Someone had taken advantage of the chaos to commit murder.
"The owner wasn't scared because of zombies. He was scared by people." Du Ruo walked back. "These people were murdered to keep them from spilling secrets."
Lu Xingchi wanted to ask the owner more questions, but he couldn't get anything else out from the owner,, so he let him go.
Lu Xingchi found the key to the metal shutter door outside the door, picked it up, and stuffed it in the owner's hand. "Lock the door."
Who knows if the owner could still understand him.
The three people left the restaurant, crossed the railway bridge, and returned to the main road. Bei Nuan took out the jeep from her pocket space.
"What do you think is up with the inhibitors?" Du Ruo was still pondering.
"I don't know either." Lu Xingchi shook his head.
They placed the injured man on the last row of the seats. Lu Xingchi commanded Du Ruo, "Take care of his injuries."
Du Ruo laughed. "You don't know how? What a waste of all those years studying medicine."
Lu Xingchi leisurely answered, "I was studying psychology. I don't know the stuff you know about using knives and scissors."
"Nonsense, you speak as if you haven't taken an anatomy class." Du Ruo raised his eyebrows, but he still asked Bei Nuan for a first aid kit. He cleaned the man's injuries. While doing this, he glanced at the man's name and number from the name tag on his chest.
"His name is Jiang Fei? That's a pretty good name."
As Du Ruo wiped off the blood from Jiang Fei's face, his face was gradually revealed.
How a person looked with a bald head was the best test of attractiveness. This person's hair was cut extremely short, and he was wearing a rough prison uniform, but it didn't affect his appearance in the slightest.
On the contrary, he was like freshly fallen snow on the tiles of an old wall. Or, a monk that was wearing coarse hemp, but was so delicate and elegant that the impurities of humans couldn't touch him.
It was just that his face was deathly pale, and his eyes were tightly shut.
They drove away from Ningcheng. When the factories on the city outskirts were no longer visible, Lu Xingchi left the main road. He drove along a bumpy road towards deserted places. Finally, he parked the jeep next to a forest by a river and prepared to set up camp. He couldn't see anyone in the surrounding area. This spot was fairly safe.
Du Ruo shuffled over to Bei Nuan. "Bei Nuan, I'm hungry. Do you want to take out what you cooked earlier today…"
He hadn't been able to eat the hot pot earlier in the evening and was still thinking about it.
Bei Nuan looked at the inside of the jeep. "We can't eat that inside the jeep, right?"
Du Ruo jumped out of the jeep and walked over to the riverside. He looked around. "How about here? We can lay out a disposable tablecloth."
"No need. I have a table." Bei Nuan silently searched her pocket space.
Lu Xingchi and Du Ruo thought she would take out a small collapsible camping table.
But then, a large, thick, and glossy light-colored oak dining table suddenly appeared. After that, one after another, matching wooden dining chairs appeared.
Just like that, a dining table set was set up on a desolate riverside in the last days. It felt so out-of-place and was jarring to look at. It felt as if they had walked onto the wrong movie set.
