Title: A Fake Holy Mother in the Zombie Apocalypse
Translator: Little Bamboo Spirit
Chapter 10 - He's still a child! (1)
The zombie, who was about to bite down, suddenly stopped moving. There was a long gleaming nail embedded in the center of its forehead.
Bei Nuan turned her head and saw that Lu Xingchi was standing nearby. He was expressionless and holding a gleaming steel crossbow.
Bei Nuan finally noticed that at some unknown point in time, the chaotic gas station had become extremely quiet.
Apart from Bei Nuan, everything had become still.
Whether they were shot from the front or the back, Lu Xingchi's nails hit bullseye on every zombie's forehead. His accuracy was so good that it was like demonic arts.
"Are you hurt?" Lu Xingchi glanced at Bei Nuan.
Bei Nuan knew that he wasn't asking out of concern. The moment she got bit or scratched by a zombie, he would shoot a nail straight at her forehead in the very next second.
Bei Nuan immediately solemnly guaranteed. "No, definitely not!"
Bei Nuan quickly took off the helmet, loosen the magazine tied around her leg, pulled up her pants, and showed the calf that the zombie had been holding onto.
"Do you want to check?" Bei Nuan looked up and asked with a very innocent face.
Her calf and ankle were slender and fair. The unblemished skin was lustrous and obviously completely unharmed.
Lu Xingchi's cold gaze fell on the graceful arc of her leg and paused there for a second before going back to Bei Nuan's face.
He walked over with the crossbow, crouched down in front of Bei Nuan, and said in a lowered voice, "Beauty trap? Do you think that'll stop me from killing you?"
Bei Nuan was only embarrassed for a moment that he had exposed her ploy. She made her expression look even more innocent and said in her most sincere voice, "I just wanted to show you that I'm not injured."
Lu Xingchi slightly smiled and stood up.
Du Ruo jumped down from the off-road vehicle to help speak for Bei Nuan. He said with a smile, "How could she be injured? She wrapped her legs so tightly."
Lu Xingchi didn't say another word. He turned to refuel the vehicle.
Sitting on the ground, Bei Nuan picked up the magazine the zombie had bitten, tore off the dirty pages, and wrapped the remaining part of the magazine on her leg.
She smoothly asked Du Ruo, "Weren't you guys ahead of me? Why did you come back?"
Du Ruo crouched down next to Bei Nuan and winked at her. "He said there's a gas station here and insisted on coming back to refuel."
Bei Nuan immediately understood what he meant. It didn't make sense to come back here to get gas. They had been driving for so long. There was no way there wasn't a closer gas station in the next service area. Lu Xingchi had obviously come back for her, but he didn't want to admit it.
Bei Nuan immediately raised her head and asked with a hopeful expression, "Does that mean you guys will take me along?"
Lu Xingchi had his gaze fixed on the gas pump. A long time passed before he finally said, "No."
Fine, no was no.
There had been a silver lining in coming to this gas station. She had finally caught up to them. As long as she stayed in the male protagonist's vision, she had a chance to increase her Holy Mother points.
"You're not leaving right away, right?" Bei Nuan asked Du Ruo.
"We'll be here for a bit. We're going to fill up a few more containers with gas."
Civilization was rapidly collapsing. Within a few days, gas would be a scarce and important resource.
With Lu Xingchi guarding, Bei Nuan didn't have to worry about anything and entered the convenience store.
